Inset Training

Winner of the Design & Technology Association Award in the Teacher Training/Consultants Category 2012.

Discover & Create staff Inset training focuses on a range of practical Design & Technology skills. These sessions will provide teachers with ideas, practical experience and useful tips on how to effectively deliver projects in the classroom. The inset training will give the teacher the confidence to undertake practical Design & Technology projects, allowing pupils to produce quality pieces of work. Inset can also be delivered on a school training day, twilight or to a cluster of staff in your area. We offer inspiring hands on activities that can be immediately used with pupils.  The CPD training can focus on developing skills in some of the following that link to the Design & Technology curriculum: 

  • Cam & Crank mechanisms
  • Practical Food Technology in the class environment
  • Electronics creating circuits and using LEDs
  • Pneumatic systems to create movement
  • Textiles Technology practical techniques to assemble and join fabrics
  • Investigating new approaches for designing
  • Using levers, linkages, sliders, and wheel mechanisms
  • Pulleys and gears
